Stephanie is the candidate with experience and integrity. 

  • Stephanie worked in the ICCSD from 2008 through 2016 and she understands laws and policies governing public education, including IDEA and the ESSA.
  • a documented history of doing the right and best thing for students, their education and their families, even when threatened with firing by administrators 
  • a whistleblower on the use of plywood seclusion boxes for our most vulnerable students
  • a whistleblower on the ICCSD mis-using the Grant Wood Community Room and taking from the Twain and Wood communities the intended public-use of the room in out-of-school hours
  • on the ICCSD Equity Advisory Committee from 2009-2019
  • on the 2009 Redistricting Committee
  • former Homeless Liaison 2010-2016 for 500+ students
  • former Student & Family Advocate for Twain and Wood
  • outspoken advocate for Alexander students when bussing was taken away by the school board and walked students to school to keep them safe until bussing resumed
  • Fiber Artist for the popular lunchtime and afterschool knitting clubs for students at Twain and Wood
  • facilitated start-up of 6 Kicker’s Soccer teams with over 100 minority and immigrant elementary students and parent coaches
  • developed two parent English Language classes with community collaboration for childcare and parent support


Stephanie believes equity in educational experience is the biggest challenge we face. A student of any color or ability status should experience growth in learning each and every year.
